First Visit

Going to a new dentist for the first time can be a daunting experience. With so many Australians avoiding visiting their dentist due to fear and anxiety and visiting a new dental practice could increase this stress. At Griffith Dental Lounge, we are committed to providing our patients with the most comfortable dental experience possible. To help alleviate your worries and concerns, we have compiled a list of four things you can expect from your first dental appointment at GDL.

1. You will speak with our friendly GDL front of house team

When you first enter our practice, you’ll meet with our welcoming front office coordinators, who will register you as a new patient. Here you will be asked to fill out a short medical history form in regards to your oral health as well as important contact details.

Our team will always strive to make you feel welcome. Our reception staff are friendly, caring, and love to look after our patients. They can also answer any questions you may have regarding treatments and the payment methods we have available.

2. Our dentist will get to know you

At your first dental appointment, our GDL dentists will take the time to get to know you, your dental history and experiences, and your reasons for visit. They will also discuss your oral hygiene and address any concerns you may have.
Our dentists care about you as a person as much as they care about your oral health. They believe in building meaningful connections and trusting relationships with you as a patient.

3. Examination of your oral health

Next, our dentists will examine your oral health. There’s no need to worry; this is a simple and painless procedure that will only take a few minutes to complete.

During the evaluation, our dentists will examine your mouth, gums, and teeth and will ask if you have encountered any problems with your oral health recently. We do this to gain a better understanding of your dental care regime and try to locate any oral health issues that may require immediate attention.

After that, our dentists will inspect your teeth and count the number of fillings you may have. Here is when our dental assistant will complete dental charting. We use dental charting to form part of your dental records, making the information easily accessible ready for your next visit.

On your first visit, your dentist would likely take a full mouth x-ray to help evaluate your oral health. These x-rays are used with low levels of radiation to capture images of the interior of your teeth and gums. This can help your dentist to identify problems, like cavities, tooth decay, and impacted teeth.

4. We will schedule you a follow-up appointment

After your first examination and checkup, our receptionist will schedule you a follow-up appointment. You must see your dentist regularly to prevent things such as gum disease, tooth decay and ensure that your oral hygiene is fighting fit!

Your first appointment at Griffith Dental Lounge won’t take long and is nothing to worry about. If you’re looking for a friendly, caring, and inviting dental environment look no further than the GDL team. Call and make your first appointment today on 02 6964 6667.
